|Day 1||Guatemala City||Welcome to Guatemala City, the most populated city in Central America. The city is full of historical monuments, museums, and beautiful art galleries. Your hotel is available for mid-afternoon check-in.|
|Day 2||Guatemala City||Fly to Flores, where you will be transferred to the mystical archaeological site of TIKAL, located in the middle of the rainforest. Your guided TOUR showcases this Mayan city that was inhabited from 600-900 AD and at its height supported a population of 90,000 people. Explore the complex and its temples, main plazas, palaces, and pyramids. Also visit the MUSEUM, which houses many of the Pre-Columbian statues found during excavations. Later today, depart for Flores and your return flight to Guatemala City. (B)|
|Day 3||Antigua||Welcome to Antigua, Guatemala's capital from 1543 until a devastating earthquake in 1776 when it was moved to Guatemala City. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua is one of the Americas' oldest and most beautiful cities, with pastel-colored buildings, wide cobblestone streets, and a beautiful natural setting ringed by three volcanoes. |Day 4||Antigua||This morning, our PRIVATE TOUR of this magnificent highlands city, known for its 16th-century Spanish Colonial architecture, includes lively Plaza Mayor, flanked by the impressive Catedral de San Jose and Palace of the Capitanes Generales. See the ruins of churches and monasteries, some with hidden underground passages destroyed by the earthquake of 1776, and take a tour of a JADE FACTORY. (B)|
|Day 5||Lake Atitlan||Today, with your Local Host, reach the whitewashed highland town of Chichicastenango to visit the colorful, open-air INDIAN MARKET, where hundreds of Indians from the surrounding countryside gather to barter their goods and products. Also, visit the Catholic CHURCH OF SANTO TOMAS to witness ancient Mayan ceremonies that have long been practiced there. Continue to the shores of Lake Atitlan, surrounded by volcanoes and indigenous villages. Lake Atitlan is the ideal place to come in contact with native Guatemalans. Twelve Indian villages surround the lake, and their inhabitants are descendants from the great Quiche, Cackchiquel, and Tzutuhil Nations. (B)|
|Day 6||Lake Atitlan||This morning, CRUISE across Lake Atitlan to visit the Indian village of SANTIAGO ATITLAN, and meet the Tzutuhil people, one of Guatemala's indigenous tribes. This afternoon is free to explore on your own. (B)|
|Day 7||Guatemala City||Head back to Guatemala City for your included CITY TOUR. (B)|
|Day 8||San Jose||Today, fly to San Jose, Costa Rica and transfer to your hotel. (B)|
|Day 9||Arenal||This morning, transfer to the town of La Fortuna in the Arenal Volcano area, where you will stay two nights. This afternoon, visit the famous TABACON HOT SPRINGS and take a dip in the natural springs and pools of mineral waters surrounded by lush, tropical forest. Enjoy dinner at the hot springs. (B,D)|
|Day 10||Arenal||Today is at your leisure to explore on your own. Perhaps visit the Arenal Hanging Bridges, a network of suspension bridges, platforms, and trails built in the cloud forest. From here, explore the forest canopy with a bird's-eye view, giving you a different perspective of the forest's wildlife. Alternatively, you may choose a rafting adventure, horseback riding, or spelunking in nearby Venado Caves. (B)|
|Day 11||Monteverde||This morning, your transfer begins with a short BOAT RIDE across Arenal Lake to admire different species of birds that visit and call the area home. Continue through incredible mountain scenery and the MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST, home to over 3,000 plant species, approximately 120 mammal species, 400 bird species, and 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles. This evening, venture into Monteverde's Cloud Forest just before nightfall with an expert Naturalist for a GUIDED NATURE WALK to search for the jungle's nocturnal creatures, like sloths, foxes, agoutis, frogs, and many more! |Day 12||Monteverde||Enjoy a day to do as you please. Maybe wake up early and visit Santa Elena Cloud Forest to best experience the animals in their natural forest habitats. Discover this misty and surreal wildlife sanctuary full of mosses, ferns, flowers, and other indigenous plant life. Also, notice how the combination of climatic and geographic factors create temperature and humidity gradients, changing dramatically over just a short distance, or you could visit a local family's farm to learn about sugar cane, coffee, and tilapia farming. |Day 13||Manuel Antonio||Today, transfer to the town of Quepos, gateway to MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK. Dense mangrove swamps sheltering a variety of wildlife back up to the pristine beaches in this area. It is not uncommon to see iguanas and white-faced monkeys on the beach. For the more active, there are jungle hikes suited to all abilities. Other activities include canopy tours, deep-sea fishing, diving, sea kayaking, and mountain biking. (B)|
|Day 14||Manuel Antonio||Enjoy a NATURALIST-GUIDED WALK on the trails of MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK. Here, you'll observe the abundant flora and fauna. Keep your eye out for several species of monkeys, iguanas, birds and possibly even the three-toed sloth. One of the trails borders Cathedral Point, where the view of the park and the sea is spectacular. During the afternoon you can relax at your hotel or you can participate in one of the optional activities offered in the area. (B)|
|Day 15||Manuel Antonio||Spend today exploring at your leisure. For the more active, consider a jungle hike suited to all abilities. Other activities include horseback riding, canopy tours, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, and much more. (B)|

Booking your Vacation with Air
For air departure dates within 331 days, you'll be offered a choice of carriers and flight schedules as well as price points to choose from when selecting your flights. Your schedule will be provided to you at the time of booking (schedules are subject to change by carriers). Monograms offers 2 air options: Flex Air and Instant Purchase Air. Flex Air allows flexibility if you want to make changes to your vacation schedule. Instant Purchase Air may offer additional airline options but has more restrictions. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option. Guaranteed air-inclusive prices: air is only available to passengers traveling from the United States and only available when booked in conjunction with a land vacation. An additional $300 per person non-refundable air deposit is required for Flex Air booked in conjunction with any land vacation (i.e. air-inclusive vacation). Air can only be booked by Monograms in conjunction with a vacation package. Instant Purchase Air requires air payment in full at time of booking (i.e. air-inclusive vacation) plus non-refundable service fee ($30 per person for North America, $80 per person for South Pacific, $50 per person for all other destinations). Once booked, Instant Purchase Air is non-refundable, and non-changeable. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option. However, once your airfare is confirmed and Monograms has received your full air and land deposit, your air-inclusive vacation price is guaranteed.
Air-Inclusive Vacations - Applicable Taxes & Fees
Air-inclusive vacations include government-imposed taxes and fees applicable at the time of booking and will be shown as a Total Amount. Additional airline fees for baggage may apply. At the time of booking your air-inclusive vacation online, carrier Websites will be provided to check baggage fees, or you can visit www.iflybags.com for up-to-date baggage pricing/restrictions. For return travel from some countries, international travelers are required to pay entry and/or exit fees at the airport. These fees will be collected by the local government and are payable by the traveler at time of travel. Your confirmation booking information will contain information about these fees.
